Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which suppresses that a radius of the rotation a flow of intake air in a combustion chamber becomes small, and can generate a strong tumble flow in the combustion chamber.SOLUTION: An intake port 19 of an internal combustion engine 11 has an intake connecting portion 191 which is connected to a combustion chamber 18, and becomes large in a passage cross section as approximating the combustion chamber 18, and an intake upstream portion 192 which is connected to an upstream end of the intake connecting portion 191. A valve seat 26 on which an umbrella part 32 of an intake valve 30 abuts is arranged at a downstream end of the intake connecting portion 191. A recess 50 which extends to a direction in which the intake port 19 extends, and straddles the intake connecting portion 191 and the intake upstream portion 192 is arranged at at least either of both-side regions in a direction in which an engine output shaft 16 extends at a peripheral face 19A of the intake port 19.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】燃焼室内での吸入空気の流れの回転半径が小さくなることを抑制し、燃焼室内に強いタンブル流を発生させることができる内燃機関を提供する。【解決手段】内燃機関11の吸気ポート19は、燃焼室18に接続されるとともに、燃焼室18に近づくにつれて通路断面積が広くなる吸気接続部分191と、吸気接続部分191の上流端に接続されている吸気上流部分192とを有する。吸気接続部分191の下流端には、吸気バルブ30の傘部32が当接するバルブシート26が設けられている。吸気ポート19の周面19Aにおいて機関出力軸16の延伸する方向における両側の部位のうち、少なくとも一方の部位には、吸気ポート19の延びる方向に延伸するとともに、吸気接続部分191と吸気上流部分192とに跨る凹部50が設けられている。【選択図】図1
