Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that can adjust the amount of exposure more property in a short time in response to a change in an exposure sensitivity characteristic of a photoreceptor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a characteristic acquisition part for acquiring a change in exposure sensitivity characteristic of a photoreceptor associated with an increase in usage, the characteristic acquisition part including a potential detection part that detects a surface potential of the photoreceptor, capable of acquiring the relationship between the intensity of light of an exposure part and the surface potential according to the usage, and acquiring, in a first area where the intensity of light and the surface potential indicate a linear relation in the relationship, a first light intensity for detection that is the intensity of light corresponding to the surface potential of the same magnitude in the relationship at a first usage, and a second light intensity for detection in the relationship at a second usage larger than the first usage, where the exposure part changes a first image forming light intensity that is an image forming light intensity for forming an electrostatic image and is a preset value in the first usage, to a second image forming light intensity that is a preset value in the second usage, on the basis of a ratio of the second light intensity for detection to the first light intensity for detection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B 【課題】感光体の露光感度特性の変動に対し、短時間かつ、より適切に露光量を調整することができる技術を提供する。【解決手段】使用量の増加に伴う感光体の露光感度特性の変化を取得するための特性取得部であって、感光体の表面電位を検出する電位検出部を有し、使用量に応じた露光部の光量と表面電位との関係を取得可能であり、該関係において光量と表面電位とが線形関係を示す第1領域における、同じ大きさの表面電位に対応する光量であって、第1使用量での上記関係における第1検出用光量と、第1使用量よりも大きい第2使用量での上記関係における第2検出用光量と、を取得する特性取得部を備え、露光部は、静電像を形成するための画像形成光量であって、第1使用量における設定値である第1画像形成光量を、第1検出用光量に対する第2検出用光量の比率に基づいて、第2使用量における設定値である第2画像形成光量に変更する。【選択図】図1B
