PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which enables a medium holding part to be set at a proper position, and to provide a medium holding part setting method of the printer.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a first rail 30A which may move in a first direction; a second rail 30A which is provided spaced apart from the first rail 30A in a second direction intersecting with the first direction and may move in the first direction; a first support part 23A attached to the first rail 30A and connected to a medium holding part 20 which holds a medium to be printed; and a second support part 23B attached to the second rail 30B and connected to the medium holding art 20.
