Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-modified organic pigment according to a method simpler than a conventional technique and a manufacturing method thereof, and also to provide a toner containing the surface-modified organic pigment and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an organic pigment includes the steps of: preparing a mixed liquid containing organic pigment having a nitrogen atom, a radical-polymerizable monomer and a peroxide; and decomposing the peroxide to generate a radical, bonding a polymer of the radical-polymerizable monomer onto a surface of the organic pigment by the radical and obtaining a surface-modified organic pigment. The peroxide is a compound having a structure expressed by a formula (1) or a compound having a structure expressed by a formula (2).SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】 従来技術より簡便な手法に基づいた、表面改質した有機顔料、及びその製造方法を提供する。さらに、表面改質した有機顔料を含むトナー、及びその製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】 有機顔料を製造する方法が、窒素原子を有する有機顔料、ラジカル重合性単量体、及び過酸化物を含有する混合液体を調製する工程、過酸化物を分解してラジカルを発生させ、ラジカルにより有機顔料の表面にラジカル重合性単量体の重合体を結合し、表面改質した有機顔料を得る工程を有し、過酸化物が、式(1)で示される構造を有する化合物、式(2)で示される構造を化合物である。【選択図】 なし
