Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the light extraction efficiency and reliability.SOLUTION: An organic EL element 1 includes a light-transmissible substrate 10, a light control layer 20 provided on the substrate 10, and a light emitting laminate 30 provided on the light control layer 20. The light control layer 20 includes a first layer 21 and a second layer 22 which has a different refractive index from the first layer 21 and is provided on the first layer 21. At least one of the first layer 21 and the second layer 22 has irregularities 23 for diffusing light emitted from the light emitting laminate 30. A first taper angle which the end face of the first layer 21 takes with respect to the substrate 10 is different from a second taper angle which the end face of the second layer 22 takes with respect to the substrate 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
