Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator, in which a step to be formed between the tread of a foot step and an entrance plate surface is so reduced as much as possible as to cause no hindrance when a user drops, so that the user may drop safely without consideration into the step.SOLUTION: According to an escalator of an embodiment, the tread 20a of a footstep 20 is formed on its surface with convex and concaves alternately continued by the array of a plurality of cleats 27, and an entrance plate 16 is formed on the back face with concaves and convex continuing at an interval corresponding to the convex and concave intervals of the surface of the tread 20a of the footstep 20. The convex-concaves of the surface of the tread 20a of the footstep 20 and the convex-concaves of the back face of the entrance plate 16 are made to bite each other thereby to reduce the steps S of the entrance plate end portions due to the differences of elevation between the surface of the entrance plate 16 and the surface of the footstep 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】踏み段の踏面と、乗降板表面との間にできる段差を、利用者が降りる際に支障がないようにできるだけ縮小し、利用者が段差を気遣うことなく安心して降りられるようにする。
