Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device that scatters light in the light emission device and further reduces attenuation of light in the light emission device to thereby enhance the light extraction efficiency.SOLUTION: A light emitting device includes a light emitting element 1a, a light scattering layer 2a, and a light transmitting layer 3a. The light emitting device further comprises a refractive index adjusting layer 4a. The light emitting element 1a, the light scattering layer 2a, the refractive index adjusting layer 4a, and the light transmitting layer 3a are stacked in this order. The light scattering layer 2a is configured to scatter light reaching the light scattering layer 2a. The light transmitting layer 3a has optical transparency.
