Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorber easy to mount on an automobile body, which sequentially results in breakage.SOLUTION: An energy absorber 10 formed of fiber reinforced resin, includes: a main body part 22 which is a hollow body with a closed cross section; and a first flange part 20 and a second flange part 26 integrally formed on respective end parts of the main body part 22 in a longitudinal direction. The first flange part 20 facing to a rear part of an automobile body is connected to, for example, a side frame or the like so as to extend approximately parallel to a vehicle width direction. On the other hand, the second flange part 26 facing to a front part of the automobile body is connected to, for example, a front bumper beam so as to extend in a direction inclining with respect to the vehicle width direction. An expanded part 24 having a shape gradually expanded toward the second flange part 26 from the main body part 22 is preferably arranged between the main body part 22 and the second flange part 26.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】自動車車体に搭載することが容易であり、しかも、逐次破壊を起こすエネルギ吸収体を提供する。【解決手段】繊維強化樹脂からなるエネルギ吸収体10は、閉断面中空体である本体部22と、前記本体部22の長手方向の各端部に一体的に形成された第1フランジ部20、第2フランジ部26とを有する。自動車車体の後方を臨む第1フランジ部20は、車幅方向に対して略平行に延在するように、例えば、サイドフレーム等に連結される。一方、自動車車体の前方を臨む第2フランジ部26は、車幅方向に対して傾斜する方向に延在するように、例えば、フロントバンパビームに連結される。本体部22と第2フランジ部26の間に、本体部22から第2フランジ部26に向かうに従って漸次的に拡開する形状の拡開部24を設けることが一層好ましい。【選択図】図3
