Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-capacity square secondary battery having a high volume energy density, and a battery pack using the same.SOLUTION: An electrode body including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate comprises a positive electrode tab part 4c in an end part of a sealing plate 2 side. A pressure-sensitive current interruption mechanism 40 includes a conductive member 41 having an opening 41x on the electrode body side, and a deformation plate 42 sealing the opening 41x. A positive electrode collector 6 includes a collector body part 6a and a collector connection part 6b. The collector connection part 6b is a portion folded back from an end part of the collector body part 6a. The deformation plate 42 is connected to the collector body part 6a, and a positive electrode tab part 4c is connected to the collector connection part 6b. When a pressure in the battery becomes a prescribed value or higher, the deformation plate 42 deforms and a groove 6d fractures with the deformation of the deformation plate 42.
