PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accommodate a large number of coffins (coffins after funeral) even in a narrow site, and securely store them without damaging dignity of the deceased until cremation.SOLUTION: A mortuary for temporary storage of corpses is of a merry-go-round type, and comprises: a steel frame building 1 serving as an outer wall with a heat insulation material on an exterior cladding thereof and a door on a lower layer part thereof: sprockets 12a, 12c (12c, 12d) installed on upper and lower layer parts in the steel frame building 1 to be rotated by a drive source installed in the steel frame building 1; an endless chain 14a (14b) which is wound between the sprockets 12a, 12c (12c, 12d); and coffin mounting cages 17 which are swingably suspended on chain arms 15a (15b) equidistantly attached along the endless chain 14a (14b). The door 2 on the lower layer part is opened, a coffin P is mounted on each coffin mounting cage 17, and the cages are sequentially moved toward the upper layer part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】狭小な敷地面積でも、大量の柩（葬儀後の柩）を容易に収容することができ、来る火葬の期日までに、故人の尊厳を損なうことなく安心して保管できるようにする。【解決手段】外装に断熱材を施し、下層部に開閉扉を備えて外壁となす鉄骨建屋１と、該鉄骨建屋１内の上層部及び下層部に各設置され、前記鉄骨建屋１内に設置された駆動源によって回転するスプロケット１２ａ，１２ｃ（１２ｃ，１２ｄ）と、該両スプロケット１２ａ，１２ｃ（１２ｂ，１２ｄ）間に係回されたエンドレスチェーン１４ａ（１４ｂ）と、該エンドレスチェーン１４ａ（１４ｂ）に沿って等間隔毎に取付けられたチェーンアーム１５ａ（１５ｂ）に揺動自在に吊設してなる柩載置用ケージ１７と、を備え、前記下層部の開閉扉２を開放して前記各柩載置用ケージ１７毎に柩Ｐを載せ、上層部へと順次移動させて保管可能とするメリーゴーランド式となって構成されているものとする。【選択図】図３
