PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtered smoking article capable of enhancing or improving the degradability of the smoking article itself.SOLUTION: The filtered smoking article comprises: a tobacco-containing rod 12 surrounded by a wrapping material 16; a filter element 26 surrounded by a plug wrap 28 adjacent to the tobacco-containing rod; and a tipping material 46 securing the tobacco-containing rod to the filter element, the tipping material overlying the plug wrap of the filter element and a portion of the wrapping material of the tobacco-containing rod, wherein at least one of the plug wrap, the tipping material, and the wrapping material surrounding the tobacco-containing rod is secured by an adhesive composition comprising a thermoplastic starch polymer.
