Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant material that is readily extrudable or moldable and is free from halogenated compounds and metal oxides.SOLUTION: A flame retardant composition includes a polymeric base material, a non-halogenated flame retardant material and a synergist material present in a concentration of about 1 percent by weight of the composition, where the synergist is substantially free from metal oxides.
