Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet that can surely make a remaining transfer mark thereon illegible, that, even when a coating defect occurs on a thermal transferable coloring material layer during manufacturing the thermal transfer sheet, enables the defect to be easily found by visual observation, and that hardly generates hindrance for use such as blocking before printing with the thermal transfer sheet, as well as a printing method using the thermal transfer sheet.SOLUTION: There is provided a thermal transfer sheet 1 having at least one-color thermal transferable coloring material layer 3 and a protection layer 4 formed on one surface of a substrate sheet 2 in a sequential repetitive manner, and a back surface layer formed on an opposite surface of the substrate sheet 2. The protection layer 4 has a release layer and a transfer layer laminated in this order from a substrate sheet 2 side, and the release layer contains a resin having a glass transfer temperature of 0°C to 60°C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】 熱転写シートの転写跡が残って問題が生じることに対し、その転写跡の痕跡を確実に判読できないようにする対策であり、また熱転写シートの製造時での熱転写性色材層の塗工欠陥があっても、目視にて容易に、その欠陥を見つけ出すことができ、また熱転写シートで印画する前に、ブロッキングなど使用に支障が生じない熱転写シート及びその熱転写シートを用いた印画方法を提供する。【解決手段】 基材シート2の一方の面に少なくとも1色の熱転写性色材層3と保護層4とが面順次に形成され、前記基材シート2の他方の面に、背面層が設けられた熱転写シート1であって、前記保護層4が基材シート2側から離型層、転写層を順次積層し、前記離型層はガラス転移温度が0℃以上60℃以下である樹脂を含有することを特徴とする熱転写シートの構成とした。【選択図】 図1
