PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cleaning performance of a cleaning material compared with a case where a spiral angle of the cleaning material is the same as a spiral angle of irregularities on a surface layer of a cleaning target body.SOLUTION: A charging device comprises: a rotating cleaning target body; a shank that is arranged along a direction of a rotation axis of the cleaning target body; a cleaning material that is arranged on an outer peripheral surface of the shank spirally from one end to the other end in the axial direction of the shank and is in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the cleaning target body; and a surface layer that is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cleaning target body from one end to the other end in the direction of the rotation axis, includes irregularities arranged spirally and having a spiral angle different from the spiral angle of the cleaning material, and is in contact with the cleaning material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】清掃材の螺旋角度と被清掃体における表面層の凹凸の螺旋角度とが同じである場合に比べ、清掃材の清掃性能を向上させる。【解決手段】帯電装置は、回転する被清掃体と、前記被清掃体の回転軸方向に沿って配置された軸部と、前記軸部の外周面に前記軸部の軸方向の一端側から他端側へかけて螺旋状に配置され、前記被清掃体の外周面に接触する清掃材と、前記被清掃体の外周面に前記回転軸方向の一端側から他端側へかけて形成され、前記清掃材の螺旋角度とは異なる螺旋角度の螺旋状に配置された凹凸を有し、前記清掃材に接触する表面層と、を備える。【選択図】図２
