Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of a developer with a simple structure.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance path (CL4) by which a developer recovered by a cleaner (CL) is conveyed to a development device (G). When an image is printed on one face only of a medium (S) and the concentration of the image formed on an image holding body (PR) is lower than the preset concentration, an image for the consumption of the preset developer is formed and kept on a surface of a transfer member (Rt), and the image is formed on the surface of the image holding body (RP) side of the medium (S) which passes between the transfer member (Rt) and the image holding body (PR), and the surface of the transfer member (Rt) side of the medium (S) is adhered with the developer kept in the transfer member (Rt).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】簡素な構成で現像剤の劣化を抑制すること。【解決手段】清掃器（ＣＬ）で回収された現像剤が現像装置（Ｇ）に搬送される搬送路（ＣＬ４）を備え、媒体（Ｓ）の一面にのみ画像を印刷する場合且つ像保持体（ＰＲ）に形成された画像の濃度が予め設定された濃度よりも低濃度の場合に、予め設定された現像剤の消費用の画像を形成して、転写部材（Ｒｔ）の表面に保持させておき、転写部材（Ｒｔ）と像保持体（ＰＲ）との間を通過する媒体（Ｓ）の像保持体（ＰＲ）側の面に画像を形成すると共に、媒体（Ｓ）の転写部材（Ｒｔ）側の面に転写部材（Ｒｔ）に保持された現像剤を付着させることを特徴とする画像形成装置（Ｕ）。【選択図】図３
