Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission shaft capable of restricting reduction in shock absorbing performance at the time of expansion or retracting motion of a front side shaft and a rear side shaft, and restricting a large diameter formation of the power transmission shaft and increase in number of component elements.SOLUTION: There are provided a rear side shaft 9 having a male spline 19 formed at an outer circumferential surface of a front end part, a front side shaft 8 [a second tube 11] having a female spline 13 formed at an inner circumferential surface of a rear end part and a seal ring 16 stored and held in a seal storing groove 15 formed at an inner circumferential surface of a rear end part 11a of a second tube 11. The seal ring is compressed and deformed between an outer circumferential seal surface 9b and an inner circumferential surface of the seal storing groove and at the same time they are held in a held state between an inner end surface of the seal storing groove and a disk-like holding part 20b of a retainer member 20 in which an outer cylindrical part 20a is press fitted and fixed to a pressing-in cylindrical surface 17.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】フロント側シャフトとリア側シャフトの伸長、短縮移動時における衝撃吸収性能の低下を抑制すると共に、動力伝達軸の大径化と部品点数の増加を抑制し得る動力伝達軸を提供する。【解決手段】前端部外周面に雄スプライン19が形成されたリア側シャフト9と、後端部内周面に雌スプライン13が形成されたフロント側シャフト8(第2チューブ11)と、第2チューブ11の後端部11aの内周面に形成されたシール収容溝15に収容保持されたシールリング16と、を備え、シールリングを、外周シール面9bと、シール収容溝の内周面との間に圧縮変形させると共に、シール収容溝の内側端面と、圧入用円筒面17に外筒部20aが圧入固定されたリテーナ部材20の円盤状の保持部20bとの間で挟持状態に保持した。【選択図】図2
