Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for a vehicular internal combustion engine and a control method, capable of obtaining warm-up performance equivalent to performance at a high outside air temperature while suppressing abnormal combustion at a low outside air temperature.SOLUTION: A cooling device for a vehicular internal combustion engine includes an electric water pump for circulating coolant, a bypass line for bypassing a radiator, and a flow control valve for controlling coolant flow circulating the bypass line. When an outside air temperature is in a low outside air temperature condition, in which the temperature is less than a threshold value, the cooling device increases coolant temperature higher than a coolant temperature in a high outside air condition, in which outside air temperature is higher than the threshold value, by increasing coolant flow circulating the bypass line comparing to coolant flow at the high outside air condition, and increases coolant circulation flow by increasing a discharge flow rate of the electric water pump comparing to the rate at the high outside air condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】外気温度が低いときに、異常燃焼の発生を十分に抑制しつつ外気温度が高いときと同等の暖機性能を得ることができる、車両用内燃機関の冷却装置及び制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】冷却水を循環させる電動式ウォータポンプと、ラジエータを迂回するバイパスラインと、バイパスラインを循環する冷却水の流量を制御する流量制御弁と、を備えた車両用内燃機関の冷却装置において、外気温度が閾値よりも低い低外気温状態であるときに、外気温度が前記閾値よりも高い高外気温状態であるときに比べてバイパスラインを循環する冷却水の流量を増やして冷却水温を高外気温状態であるときよりも高くし、更に、高外気温状態であるときに比べて電動式ウォータポンプの吐出流量を増やして冷却水の循環流量を増やす。【選択図】図3
