Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a torque required for a paper feed motor and to achieve miniaturization of the paper feed motor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has a first rotating body which is disposed in a conveyance path and conveys a recording material to an image forming part and a second rotating body which is disposed at an upstream side of the first rotating body. First driving means drives the image forming part and the second rotating body. Second driving means drives the first rotating body. Control means controls the first rotating body or the second rotating body in such a manner that a back tension occurring to the second driving means is reduced when a recording material is in between the first rotating body and the second rotating body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 【課題】給紙モータに要求されるトルクを削減し、給紙モータの小型化を実現すること。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、搬送路において画像形成部へ記録材を搬送する第１回転体と、第１回転体よりもさらに上流側に配置された第２回転体とを有している。第１駆動手段は画像形成部と第２回転体とを駆動する。第２駆動手段は第１回転体を駆動する。制御手段は、第１回転体と第２回転体との間に記録材が存在するときに、第２駆動手段に対して発生するバックテンションが小さくなるように、第１回転体または第２回転体を制御する。【選択図】図８
