Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for obtaining cyanobacteria having free fatty acid high-productivity without requiring complex operations such as genetic recombination.SOLUTION: There is provided a production method of fatty acid release strains of cyanobacteria, including: a step to prepare a plurality of test sections where specimen cyanobacteria are cultured using a medium-chain or long-chain fatty acid-containing culture medium, and among which a type of the medium-chain or long-chain fatty acid contained in the culture medium differs; a step to add and culture specimen cyanobacteria to the culture medium in the plurality of the test sections; a step to select a test section where a colony is not recognized in the early stage of culture but appears when the culture is continued; and a step to collect the cyanobacteria from the colony in the selected test section.SELECTED DRAWING: None
