PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a sliding door, which can adjust the attachment height of a rack for braking opening.SOLUTION: A braking device for a sliding door includes: braking means 10 for imparting rotational resistance to an input shaft; a pinion 13 that is attached to the input shaft; a closing braking rack 11 that is meshed with the pinion 13 before the sliding door 1 is closed; and an opening braking rack 12 that is meshed with the pinion 13 when the sliding door 1 is opened.
