Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which has good flying characteristics of a head, good in-plane uniformity of a pattern, and only small size variations.SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium includes a base, a magnetic recording layer comprising a plurality of convex magnetic layers and formed on the base, and a protective film formed on the magnetic recording layer.
