PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of detecting a detection object irrespective of color of a projected image, and an electronic device having a projector function.SOLUTION: A projector 100 comprises: a laser source 60 for emitting a laser beam in response to an image signal to be input; a MEMS mirror 68a for projecting an image onto an arbitrary projection area by causing the laser beam emitted from the laser source 60 to scan; a silicon photodiode 10a for detecting the laser beam emitted from the laser source 60 and reflected by the detection object; and a control section 31 for, on the basis of gradation of the image signal to be input, when it is determined that detection of a laser beam corresponding to the image signal to be input by the silicon photodiode 10a cannot be expected, controlling to emit a detection guide beam for detection of the silicon photodiode 10a, different from the laser beam corresponding to the image signal to be input, from the laser source 60 and project the same onto an arbitrary projection area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】投影される画像の色に関わらず検出対象物を検出することが可能なプロジェクタおよびプロジェクタ機能を有する電子機器を提供する。【解決手段】このプロジェクタ１００は、入力される画像信号に基づいてレーザ光を照射するレーザ光源６０と、レーザ光源６０から照射されるレーザ光を走査させることにより任意の投影領域に画像を投影するＭＥＭＳミラー６８ａと、レーザ光源６０から照射されて、検出対象物により反射されたレーザ光を検出するシリコンフォトダイオード１０ａと、入力される画像信号の階調に基づいて、入力される画像信号に対応するレーザ光のシリコンフォトダイオード１０ａによる検出が期待できないと判断した場合に、入力される画像信号に対応するレーザ光とは別個のシリコンフォトダイオード１０ａの検出用の検出ガイド光をレーザ光源６０から照射して任意の投影領域に投影する制御を行う制御部３１と、を備える。【選択図】図２
