Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cells equivalent to embryonic stem cells in adults.SOLUTION: Described herein are a method for treating cancer in a mammal, and an isolated multipotent mammalian stem cell (MASC) characterized by being negative with surface antigens CD44, CD45 and HLA classes I and II. Also described is a method for isolating MASCs comprising the steps of: (a) depleting from bone marrow monocytes CD45glycophorin Acells; (b) collecting CD45glycophorin Acells; (c) plating the collected CD45glycophorin Acells onto a matrix coating; and (d) culturing the plated cells in a culture medium supplemented with growth factors.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】成体における胚性幹細胞と同等な細胞を提供すること。【解決手段】本明細書に記載されるような、哺乳動物における癌を治療するための方法。表面抗原CD44、CD45、ならびにHLAクラスIおよびII陰性であることを特徴とする単離多能性哺乳動物幹細胞。多能性成体幹細胞(MASC)を単離するための方法であって、(a)骨髄単核細胞からCD45+グリコフォリンA+細胞を枯渇させる工程と、(b)CD45−グリコフォリンA−細胞を回収する工程と、(c)回収したCD45−グリコフォリンA−細胞をマトリクスコーティング上に播種する工程と、(d)播種した細胞を生長因子を補った培地中で培養する工程とを含む方法。【選択図】なし
