Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method capable of properly perform unequal cutting of a plate member made of brittle material, improving productivity by suppressing generation of cutting dust at cutting, and being configured small.SOLUTION: A cutting method for a plate member made of brittle material includes: a crack forming step of forming a minute origin crack on a first principal surface of the plate member, along a cutting planned line; a pressing step of pressing the first principal surface of the plate member on lines arranged parallel to the cutting planned line on both sides thereof; a corrective heating step of heating the plate member and thermally deforming the same by using a corrective heating member extending along the cutting planned line and juxtaposed to the cutting member at a predetermined interval, so that the cutting planned line becomes linear at cutting by a cutting member; and a cutting step of generating compressive thermal stress on the first principal surface of the plate member by heating the cutting member so as to heat the plate member by contact and be brought into contact with the cutting planned line of the plate member, applying bending force in the plate thickness direction along the cutting planned line from a second principal surface of the plate member, superposing tensile stress from the bending force and the compressive thermal stress and thereby cutting the plate member along the cutting planned line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 【課題】 脆性材料の板材の不等分な分断が適切にでき、分断時に分断塵の発生を抑えて生産性を上げることができてコンパクトに構成できる分断方法を提供すること。【解決手段】 分断計画線上で板材の第1主面に微小な起点疵を形成する疵形成工程と、分断計画線の両側の分断計画線と平行な線上で板材の第1主面を押える押え工程と、分断計画線に沿って延び分断部材と所定間隔で並設した修正加熱部材により、板材を加熱して分断部材による分断時に分断計画線が直線状となるように板材を熱変形させる修正加熱工程と、板材を接触加熱するように分断部材を加熱して板材の分断計画線に接触させて板材の第1主面に圧縮熱応力を発生させるとともに、分断計画線に沿って板材の第2主面側から板厚方向の曲げ力を付与することにより、曲げ力による引張応力と圧縮熱応力とを重畳させて板材を分断計画線に沿って分断する分断工程とを含む。【選択図】 図8
