Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crushing method and a crushing apparatus by means of which organic substances are hard to remain in a battery and the battery are treated safely and supplied into a heat treatment furnace.SOLUTION: A crushing apparatus for a battery is provided that comprises: a crushing chamber comprising a battery supply inlet and a crushed piece exhaust port; a rotatable cutting blade installed in the chamber; and further a gas supply pipe for introducing non-oxidative gas to the inside of the chamber and connected to the chamber and that crushes batteries under a non-oxidative gas atmosphere. Preferably, a pretreatment machine that tears batteries under the non-oxidative gas atmosphere is connected to the inlet of the crushing chamber, and the crushing apparatus supplies battery crushed pieces crushed under the non-oxidative gas atmosphere immediately into a heat treatment furnace from crushing means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
