Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration and a method, capable of more efficiently and effectively removing a lubricant.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, developing means for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier as a toner image, transfer means for transferring the toner image to a medium to be transferred, cleaning means for recovering toner remaining on the image carrier, after the transfer, lubricant supply means for supplying the lubricant on the image carrier, charge means arranged along the surface of the image carrier between the developing means and the cleaning means, and control means. The control means is configured so as to execute a first mode for forming the toner image, for the transfer to the medium to be transferred as a primary purpose and a second mode for making the electrification amount of the toner reaching the cleaning means larger than that in the first mode by the charge means, for the main purpose of recovering the lubricant on the image carrier.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
