Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a thermal efficiency of an internal combustion engine by employing a high compression ratio, performing a self-ignition of mixture gas at a squish part through fast combustion at a trigger combustion chamber and accomplishing an ultra fast combustion so as to reduce each of losses of exhaust cooling and friction, and further to make an ultra long-stroke formation through application of an opposite mating piston mechanism capable of substantially reducing S/N ratio in order to reduce the cooling loss.SOLUTION: An opposite mating piston internal combustion engine in which a pair of pistons 1 cooperating with a crank shaft 2 are moved within a cylinder in opposite directions to each other is constituted in such a way that there are provided a trigger combustion chamber 3 and a squish part 4 having a prescribed volume at a top dead center position between top surfaces of each of the pistons 1, a fast combustion is carried out at the trigger combustion chamber 3 having a shortened flame transmission distance through a plurality of ignition sources [such as an electric spark at the spark plug], the mixture gas at the squish part 4 is self-ignited in a high load region subsequent to a compression top dead center in reference to the increased combustion pressure and temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】高圧縮比を採用すると共にトリガー燃焼室の急速燃焼によってスキッシュ部の混合気を自着火させて超急速燃焼を達成し、これにより排気・冷却・摩擦の各損失を減少させ、内燃機関の熱効率を向上させること。冷却損失を減少させる為、S/V比を大幅に減少させる事ができる対向ピストン機構を採用して超ロングスロトーク化した。【解決手段】クランク軸2と連動する一対のピストン1がシリンダー内で互いに反対方向へ動き合う対向ピストン内燃機関において、各々のピストン1の頂面間に上死点位置において所定の容積を有するトリガー燃焼室3とスキッシュ部4とを備え、火炎伝播距離を短縮したトリガー燃焼室3を複数の着火源(点火プラグの電気火花の様なもの)により急速燃焼させ、その上昇した燃焼圧力・温度によってスキッシュ部4の混合気を高負荷域においては圧縮上死点以降で自着火させる様にした。【選択図】図1 |
