PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generating composition low in total heat generation amount useful for an inflator.SOLUTION: A gas generating composition contains nitroguanidine, an amide compound having an oxide balance of -1.5 or more and a basic metal salt. Preferably the content of the nitroguanidine is 1 to 30 mass%, the content of the amide compound is 5 to 40 mass%, the content of the basic metal salt is 40 to 90 mass% and the content ratio of the amide compound to the nitroguanidine is 1.0 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】インフレータに有用な総発熱量の低いガス発生組成物を提供する。【解決手段】ガス発生組成物は、ニトログアニジンと、酸素バランスが−１．５以上であるアミド化合物と、塩基性金属塩とを含有する。好ましくは、ニトログアニジンの含有量は１〜３０質量％であり、アミド化合物の含有量は５〜４０質量％であり、塩基性金属塩の含有量は４０〜９０質量％であり、ニトログアニジンに対するアミド化合物の含有比は、１．０以上である。【選択図】なし
