Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to sufficiently suppress a white void.SOLUTION: There is provided a developing device having developer carriers, such as developing rollers 42A and 42B that are arranged opposite to a latent image carrier, such as a photoreceptor 2 and carry a developer on their surface, and AC voltage application means, such as a power source part 510 that applies, to the developer carriers, an AC voltage in which an AC component is superposed on a DC component, two AC components having frequencies different from each other can be selectively used as the AC component, and one of the two AC components having a higher frequency is used in a process in a development step where a toner is moved from the latent image carrier to the developer carriers, and the other AC component is used in a process of the development step where a toner is moved from the developer carriers to the latent image carrier.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】白抜けを十分に抑制することができる。【解決手段】感光体2などの潜像担持体に対して対向配置され現像剤を表面に担持する現像ローラ42A,42Bなどの現像剤担持体と、直流成分に交流成分を重畳する交番電圧を上記現像剤担持体に印加する電源部510などの交番電圧印加手段とを有する現像装置において、前記交流成分として、互いに周波数の異なる二つの交流成分が選択的に用いられるようにし、前記二つの交流成分のうち、周波数が高い方の交流成分が現像工程で潜像担持体から現像担持体に向けてトナーが移動する過程に、他方の交流成分が現像工程で現像剤担持体から潜像担持体に向けてトナーが移動する過程において用いられるようにした。【選択図】図3
