Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can reduce an opening/closing space of a fixing cover, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A fixing device 3 includes a fixing device main body 20 that has an opening 21 extending over the back part and upper part of a recording sheet conveyance path, and a fixing cover 40 that is rotatably supported at a lower end of the opening 21 with a first shaft extending in the width direction of recording sheets as the rotation center axis and openably/closably covers the opening 21.
