Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation device that can suppress temperature increase of a flash discharge tube while maintaining the capability thereof.SOLUTION: A light irradiation device has a flash discharge pipe 10, a capacitor 13 for accumulating electricity for making the flash discharge pipe discharge, a photometric part 16 for performing photometry on light emitted from the flash discharge tube, and a light emission controller which is a light emission controller 19 for controlling the flash discharge pipe to emit light repetitively and makes the flash discharge pipe emit light so that the total light emission amount of a light amount measured in each light emission operation by the photometric part. The light emission controller is configured so that the light amount in at least one light emission operation at an initial stage during a light emission period for which the flash discharge pipe is made to emit light repetitively is larger than light amounts in subsequent light emission operations after the at least one light emission operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】能力を維持しつつ、閃光放電管の温度上昇を抑制する光照射装置を提供する。【解決手段】本光照射装置は、閃光放電管10と、該閃光放電管に放電させる電気を蓄えるコンデンサ13と、閃光放電管が発光した光を測光する測光部16と、閃光放電管を繰り返し発光させる発光制御部19であって、測光部により各発光時に測光された光量の総発光量が所定の必要光量となるように閃光放電管を発光させる発光制御部とを備え、発光制御部は、閃光放電管を繰り返し発光させる発光期間の初期段階における少なくとも一回の発光時の光量を該少なくとも一回の発光より後の発光時の光量より大きく発光させる構成を有する。【選択図】図4
