Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium that exhibits a behavior with high reliability even at an extremely high temperature or low temperature when used for an active matrix display based on a VA, PSA, PS-VA, PA-VA, PALC, FFS, PS-FFS, IPS or PS-IPS effect, and has no persistence of an image after a long-term operation.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium comprises at least one compound represented by formula I.
