Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize redundant enhanced uplink (EU) allocation that occurs between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) 102 and a Node-B 104, and endure damage of EU transmission failures.SOLUTION: The WTRU 102 transmits an allocation request over a UL EU channel 110. In one embodiment, if E-DCH allocation cannot be provided within a predetermined time period, a Node-B sends an acknowledgement message to the WTRU via a DL EU signaling channel 112 without sending E-DCH allocation information.
