Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide catalyst having a long life and low cost without coexistence with manganese oxide having a BET specific surface area of 200 m/g or more, and capable of removing efficiently various malodorous components; and to provide a deodorant using the same.SOLUTION: A metal oxide catalyst contains 50-80 mass% manganese oxide in terms of the MnOconversion value, 5-20 mass% copper oxide in terms of the CuO conversion value, 5-20 mass% iron oxide in terms of the FeOconversion value, and 0.1-5 mass% phosphorus compound in terms of the P conversion value. The phosphorus compound is, for example, manganese phosphate, bismuth phosphate, zinc phosphate or aluminum phosphate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】BET比表面積が200m2/g以上のマンガン酸化物との共存がなくても、長寿命で低コストであると共に、多様な悪臭成分を効率的に除去することができる金属酸化物触媒及びそれを使用した脱臭材を提供する。【解決手段】金属酸化物触媒は、マンガン酸化物をMnO2換算値で50乃至80質量%、銅酸化物をCuO換算値で5乃至20質量%、鉄酸化物をFe2O3換算値で5乃至20質量%、燐化合物をP換算値で0.1乃至5質量%含有する。前記燐化合物は、例えば、燐酸マンガン、燐酸ビスマス、燐酸亜鉛、又は燐酸アルミニウムである。【選択図】図1
