Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries which can achieve superior battery characteristics in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery; a manufacturing method of such a positive electrode active material; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises lithium nickel cobalt manganese complex oxide particles of secondary particles, each including an outer shell part of a high manganese concentration, and a center part of a low manganese concentration lower than the outer shell part in manganese concentration. The high-manganese concentration outer shell part of each secondary particle includes primary particles each having an outer peripheral part of a low manganese concentration and an inside part of a high manganese concentration.
