Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent an afterimage phenomenon without providing charging means that is different from charging means for uniformly charging the surface of a latent image carrier for image formation.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus including a photoreceptor 1, charging device 4, exposure device 7, developing device 5, primary transfer bias roller 9, first erase lamp 31 for eliminating static electricity on the photoreceptor 1, and a discharge wire 53 that charges the surface of the photoreceptor 1 after transfer and before the static elimination, discharge wires 51 and 52 for uniform charging and the discharge wire 53 are provided integrally inside a housing of the charging device 4; the discharge wire 53 is arranged at a position on the most upstream side in the direction of rotation of the photoreceptor 1 with respect to the other discharge wires; the first erase lamp 31 is disposed in a discharge range of the discharge wire 53 on the photoreceptor 1 so that a portion in the discharge range on the downstream side of a position located on the upstream in the direction of rotation is irradiated with static elimination light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 【課題】画像形成のために潜像担持体の表面を一様帯電させる帯電手段と別体である帯電手段を設けることなく、残像現象を防止することができる画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】感光体1と、帯電装置4と、露光装置7と、現像装置5と、1次転写バイアスローラ9と、感光体1を除電するための第1イレーズランプ31と、転写後除電前に感光体1の表面を帯電する放電ワイヤ53とを備える画像形成装置において、一様帯電のための放電ワイヤ51,52と放電ワイヤ53とを帯電装置4の筐体内に一体に設け、放電ワイヤ53が他の放電ワイヤに対し感光体1の回転方向に対し最も上流側の位置になるように配置され、第1イレーズランプ31は、放電ワイヤ53の感光体1上における放電範囲であって前記放電範囲のうち前記回転方向に対して最も上流に位置する箇所よりも下流側に前記除電光が照射されるように配設する。【選択図】図5
