Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical battery which can achieve a more stable discharge characteristic in a period from the start of use to a discharge end stage.SOLUTION: A cylindrical battery 1 comprises a bottomed cylindrical battery can 10 having an opening, and a positive electrode mixture 20, a separator 30 and a negative electrode 40 which are enclosed in the battery can. The cylindrical battery 1 further comprises a negative electrode terminal 60 provided on the opening of the battery can 10 through a sealing material 50. The sealing material 50 has an opening-seal plate 51 and an insulating gasket 52 which are integrally molded. The insulating gasket 52 is provided with an annular positive electrode holding part having a thickness ranging from a surface of the opening-seal plate 51 on the inside of the battery can 10 to an opening edge of the separator 30, which serves to restrict the positive electrode mixture 20 expanding in a direction toward the opening-seal plate 51 of the negative electrode as the battery 1 is discharged. In addition, the positive electrode holding part is provided with an electrolyte holding part composed of a space provided in its thickness direction, which serves to hold an electrolyte of a quantity enough to maintain a stable discharge reaction in the battery 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】筒型電池において、使用開始から放電末期までの期間において、より安定した放電特性を得る。【解決手段】有底円筒状の電池缶10内に、正極合剤20、セパレータ30、負極40が収納され、電池缶10の開口に負極端子60が封口体50を介して設けられてなる筒型電池1である。封口体50は封口板51と絶縁ガスケット52とを一体的に成形してなり、絶縁ガスケット52には、封口板51の電池缶10内方側表面からセパレータ30の開口端縁までにわたる厚みを有する環状の正極保持部が設けられ、電池1の放電につれて正極合剤20が負極の封口板51方向へ膨張するのを規制する機能を果たす。また、正極保持部には、その厚み方向に設けられた空間である電解液保持部が設けられており、安定した放電反応を維持するのに必要な量の電解液を電池1内に保持する。【選択図】図1
