Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide activated carbon for a capacitor that, while having a fixed specific surface area, has increased number of desired pores to improve discharge capacity per specific surface area.SOLUTION: A method for producing activated carbon includes: an impregnation step of impregnating a carbonaceous material and/or a resin in a mixture of high-pressure carbon dioxide and an oxidant; and a porosification step of performing porosification by reaction of the carbonaceous material and/or the resin with the oxidant. In the method for producing activated carbon, activated carbon for a capacitor can be obtained by setting conditions and the like, which is suitable for an electric double layer capacitor and has a BET specific surface area of 200-2,000 m/g, a bulk density of 0.1-1.2 g/mL, a discharge capacity of 5-20 F/cc, and a discharge capacity per specific surface area (discharge capacity/specific surface area) of 1×10to 1×10F/m.SELECTED DRAWING: None
【課題】一定の比表面積を有しつつも、所望の細孔を多く有することで、比表面積当たりの放電容量を向上させたキャパシタ用活性炭を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】高圧二酸化炭素及び酸化剤の混合物中に、炭素質材料及び/又は樹脂を含浸する含浸工程、並びに前記炭素質材料及び/又は樹脂と前記酸化剤との反応により多孔質化する多孔質化工程を備える、活性炭の製造方法。この製造方法により得られる活性炭は、条件等を設定することにより、電気二重層キャパシタに好適な、BET比表面積が200〜2000m2/gであり、嵩密度が0.1〜1.2g/mLであり、放電容量が5〜20F/ccであり、比表面積あたりの放電容量(放電容量/比表面積)が1?10−3〜1?10-1F/m2である、キャパシタ用活性炭を得ることができる。【選択図】なし |
