Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device which can detect the positions of edges of a recording medium in the width direction with a good precision.SOLUTION: A printer (ink-jet recording device) 100 of the present invention comprises: a first belt conveyor part 5 to convey a sheet P; a recording part 9 to discharge ink to the sheet P conveyed by the first belt conveyor part 5; an edge position detection sensor 60 disposed upstream of the first belt conveyor part 5 in the sheet conveyance direction and utilizing reflected light to detect the positions of edges of the sheet P in the sheet width direction crossing the sheet conveyance direction; and a background member 61 opposed to a detection surface of the edge position detection sensor 60 and rotatable about an axis extending in the sheet width direction.
