Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy in colorimetry without increasing a colorimetric time.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including: a color sensor 50 having an LED 51, a diffraction grating 53, and a line sensor 54; an image forming part that forms an image on a sheet 21; a white reference plate 55 that is a reference in performing colorimetry of an image 69 to be measured formed on the sheet 21 by the image forming part; and a CPU 60 that performs colorimetry on the basis of a result of the detection of the image 69 to be measured and a result of the detection of the white reference plate 55 by the color sensor 50, where the CPU 60 of the color sensor 50 determines the intensity of light from the LED 51 with which the image 69 to be measured is irradiated to perform colorimetry on the basis of a result of the detection of an image-free area 68 of the sheet 21 and a result of the detection of the white reference plate 55 by the color sensor 50. 【課題】測色時間を増加させることなく、測色の検出精度を向上させること。【解決手段】LED51と、回折格子53と、ラインセンサ54と、を有するカラーセンサ50と、用紙21に画像を形成する画像形成部と、画像形成部により用紙21に形成された測色画像69の測色を行う際の基準となる白基準板55と、カラーセンサ50により測色画像69を検出した結果と白基準部材55を検出した結果とに基づいて、測色を行うCPU60と、を備える画像形成装置であって、カラーセンサ50のCPU60は、カラーセンサ50により用紙21の画像無し領域68を検出した結果と白基準板55を検出した結果とに基づいて、測色を行うために測色画像69にLED51により照射する光の光量を決定する。【選択図】図3
