PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external skin preparation with smooth use feeling which is effective in improving the condition of skin.SOLUTION: An external skin preparation of the present invention is a foamable external skin preparation having at least a solid acid substance and a solid carbonic acid gas generating substance which generates carbonic acid gas by reacting with the acid substance, which further contains at least one type selected from a cellulose derivative and a starch derivative as polysaccharide or a derivative thereof, and at least one type selected from alginic acid or a salt thereof, carrageenan, guar gum, locust bean gum, hydrophilic natural polymer being xanthan gum or tamarind gum (note that alginic acid or a salt thereof is excluded when sodium carboxymethyl cellulose is contained as cellulose derivative), and the external skin preparation is mixed with a water-containing substance when used. 【課題】使用感がよく、また皮膚の状態改善に効果的な皮膚外用剤を提供すること。【解決手段】本発明の皮膚外用剤は、少なくとも、固体状の酸性物質と、該酸性物質と反応して炭酸ガスを発生する固体状の炭酸ガス発生物質とを有する発泡性皮膚外用剤であって、更に、多糖類又はその誘導体として、セルロース誘導体及びデンプン誘導体から選ばれる少なくとも一種と、アルギン酸もしくはその塩類、カラギーナン、グアーガム、ローカストビーンガム、キサンタンガム又はタマリンドガムである親水性天然高分子から選ばれる少なくとも一種（但し、セルロース誘導体として、カルボキシメチルセルロースナトリウムを含有する場合は、アルギン酸又はその塩類を除く）とを含有し、前記皮膚外用剤の使用時に含水物質と混合する。【選択図】なし
