Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a thin section sample in which, tissue observation using an optical microscope can be performed to a sample including a hard tissue such as a tooth or bone of a living matter, or hard calcified matter such as calculus formed in the body, and which can be used for highly accurate analysis such as a scanning type electron microscope, energy dispersion X-ray spectroscopy, electron probe microanalyzer which require smoothing of the surface of the thin section with high level.SOLUTION: A sample including a living body hard tissue, or calcified matter formed in the body is solidified and embedded in resin, and the embedded and solidified sample is molded and cut into a rectangular-shaped object, and on at least two facing sides on a plate-shaped pedestal, a columnar-piece formed of mineral or rock and having length longer than height of the rectangular-shaped molded object is stuck, and the rectangular-shaped molded object is adhered to an area surrounded by the columnar-pieces on the pedestal, for polishing. 【課題】生体の歯や骨等の硬組織、又は体内にて形成される結石などの硬い石灰化物を含む試料に対し、光学顕微鏡などを用いた組織観察を行なうことができ、かつ高度な薄片表面の平滑化が求められる走査型電子顕微鏡・エネルギー分散X線分光法・電子線マイクロアナライザーなどの高精度な分析に用いることが可能な薄片の作製方法を提供する。【解決手段】生体硬組織、又は体内に形成された石灰化物を含む試料を、樹脂により包埋固化し、包埋固化した試料を直方体に成形切断した後、板状の台座上の少なくとも対向する2辺に、鉱物又は岩石からなり、前記直方体成形物の高さを超える高さを有する柱状片を貼り付け、該台座上の柱状片で囲まれた領域に前記直方体成形物を接着して、研磨を行う。【選択図】図4
