Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of separating and collecting rare earth elements as industrial raw materials and valuables having commodity value easily and cheaply without a complicated step, and including a technique of mutual separation of the rare earth elements, especially separation and collection of heavy rare earth elements distinguished from light rare earths.SOLUTION: Rare earth elements are separated and collected through: a step of adding sodium carbonate whose concentration is controlled for a sample containing multiple kinds of rare earth elements, and forming double salts each consisting of carbonates of the multiple kinds of rare earth elements and sodium carbonate and having various solubility; and a step of separating the rare earth elements with the solubility differences of the double salts mutually. 【課題】希土類元素を煩雑な工程を経ることなく、簡便かつ安価に、工業原料であって商品価値のある有価物として分離回収する方法を提供する。また、希土類元素の相互分離、特に、重希土類元素を軽希土類と区別して分離回収できる技術を含む。【解決手段】複数種の希土類元素を含有する試料に対して濃度を制御した炭酸ナトリウムを添加し、前記複数種の希土類元素による夫々の炭酸塩と炭酸ナトリウムとからなる溶解度の異なる複塩を形成させる工程と、前記複塩の溶解度差をもって前記希土類元素を相互に分離する工程により、希土類元素を分離回収する。【選択図】なし
