PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving assisting device for a vehicle capable of properly determining whether to cancel or carry out overtaking, according to change of situation after starting of overtaking a preceding car, without giving anxiety to a driver.SOLUTION: A driving assisting device 2, if an overtaking environment monitoring part 30 detects the presence of a following vehicle C1 on an overtaking lane P2 when an own vehicle 1 tries to move to the overtaking lane P2 to pass a preceding vehicle B1 after determining that overtaking of a preceding vehicle B1 is possible, an overtaking carry-out/cancel determination part 40 determines whether or not to cancel passing (overtaking) based on a travel state of the following vehicle C1. 【課題】先行車の追い越し開始後の状況変化に対応して追い越しの中止又は実行を適切に判断し、運転者に不安を与えることのない車両の運転支援装置を提供する。【解決手段】運転支援装置２は、先行車両Ｂ１を追い越し可能と判断して自車両１が追越車線Ｐ２に移動し先行車両Ｂ１の追い抜きを行う際に、追い越し環境監視部３０により追越車線Ｐ２に後続車両Ｃ１が検出されたとき、後続車両Ｃ１の走行状態に基づいて追い抜き（追い越し）を中止するか否かの判断を追い越し実行／中止判断部４０によって行う。【選択図】図６
