Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weld method which can improve the rigidity and quality of a joining part of an outside joint member of a constant velocity universal joint which is manufactured by joining a cup member and a shaft member.SOLUTION: When joining end faces 50, 51 of a cup member 12a and a shaft member 13a by making them abut on each other, and radiating high-energy density beams to the end faces from an outside diameter side, recesses (52, 53) are formed at an inside diameter side of the joining end face 51 of the shaft member 13a in advance, and a weld part 49 having a cavity which is closed to the inside diameter side is thereby obtained after the but-welding. The joining end face 50 (protruded face 50a) of the cup member 12a is hung out to the inside diameter side rather than an inside diameter E of the joining end face 51 of the shaft member 13a. 【課題】カップ部材と軸部材を接合して製造する等速自在継手の外側継手部材の接合部の強度、品質の向上を図ることのできる溶接方法を提供する。【解決手段】カップ部材12aと軸部材13aの接合用端面50、51どうしを突き合わせ、外径側から高エネルギー密度ビームを照射して突合せ溶接するにあたり、軸部材13aの接合用端面51の内径側にくぼみ(52、53)を設けておくことにより、突合せ溶接後、内径側に閉じた空洞をもつ溶接部49を得る。カップ部材12aの接合用端面50(突出面50a)は、軸部材13aの接合用端面51の内径Eよりも内径側にせり出している。【選択図】図2
