PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece abutting method and a press brake capable of preventing a workpiece from floating up from the upper face of a lower mold at the time when a back gauge relatively abuts against a workpiece rear end.SOLUTION: In a workpiece abutting method for bringing a back gauge in a press brake is brought into relative abutment against the end portion of a workpiece having been folded in advance, after the flat face of the workpiece including the end portion is placed on a lower mold 11 in the press brake. After this, the flat face of a workpiece W is movably pressed, by workpiece floating preventing means 23 belonging to the press brake, on an auxiliary support member 31 having the flat face of the workpiece W at the upper face of the lower mold 11 or at a height identical to that of the upper face of the lower mold 11, and this pressed state is held to cause a back gauge 15 to relatively abut against the end portion of the workpiece. 【課題】バックゲージをワーク後端に相対的に当接した際に、ワークが下型上面から浮上がることを防止できるワーク当接方法及びプレスブレーキを提供する。【解決手段】予め折曲げ加工されたワークの端部に、プレスブレーキにおけるバックゲージを相対的に当接するワーク当接方法であって、前記端部を含むワークの平面をプレスブレーキにおける下型１１上に載置した後、プレスブレーキに備えたワーク浮上がり防止手段２３によってワークＷの前記平面部を前記下型１１の上面又は前記下型１１の上面と同一高さに備えた補助支持部材３１に移動可能に押圧し、この押圧状態を保持してワークの前記端部にバックゲージ１５を相対的に当接する。【選択図】図３
