Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an assembling method of a universal joint which can accurately assemble cup bearings into portions between circular holes constituting yokes and tips of shaft parts constituting a joint cross irrespective of a variation of dimensions of constituent members.SOLUTION: A cup bearing 18 is pressure-inserted into a preset reference position at the inside of a circular hole 15 by using a pressure-insertion punch 31 constituting a pressure-insertion caulking device 29, and a value of pressure applied on the pressure-insertion punch 31 at that point of time is stored as a reference pressure. Then, the cup bearing 18 is further pressure-inserted from the reference position, and when the pressure applied to the pressure-insertion punch 31 becomes higher than the reference pressure by a preset prescribed value, it is determined that the cup bearing 18 reaches a pressure-insertion finish position, and pressure-insertion work is finished. 【課題】構成各部材の寸法のばらつきに拘らず、ヨークを構成する円孔と十字軸を構成する軸部の先端部との間部分に、カップ軸受を精度良く組み付けられる、自在継手の組立方法を実現する。【解決手段】圧入かしめ装置29を構成する圧入パンチ31を用いて、カップ軸受18を円孔15の内側に、予め設定した基準位置まで圧入し、その時点で圧入パンチ31に加わる圧力の値を基準圧力として記憶する。次いで、カップ軸受18を基準位置から更に圧入し、圧入パンチ31に加わる圧力が基準圧力よりも予め設定した所定値だけ大きくなった時点で、カップ軸受18が圧入完了位置にまで達したと判定して、圧入作業を終了する。【選択図】図1
