PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device which is provided with a torque application unit usable under high-speed-rotation and high-torque conditions and an image formation apparatus.SOLUTION: A sheet carrying device includes a first rotor pair for carrying a sheet, a second rotor pair which is provided in the downstream of the first rotor pair and carries the sheet and a loading part which applies a load to the rotation of the first rotor pair so that tensile stress is generated in the sheet, and the loading part has a rotary member, a sliding member arranged on both sides of the rotary member in the axis direction, fixing members which are provided so as to sandwich the sliding members of the rotary member on both sides in the axis direction from both outer sides in the axis direction, be movable in the axis direction and be rotation-restricted and an urging member which urges the fixing members in the axis direction of the rotary member. 【課題】本発明の目的は、高速回転、高トルクの条件でも使用可能なトルク付与装置を備えたシート搬送装置及び画像形成装置を提供することにある。【解決手段】シートを搬送する第１の回転体対と、シートの搬送方向において前記第１の回転体対の下流側に設けられ、シートを搬送する第２の回転体対と、前記第１の回転体対と前記第２の回転体対にシートが挟持された際に、シートに引張り応力が発生するように、前記第１の回転体対の回転に負荷を与えることが可能な負荷部と、前記負荷部は、回転部材と、前記回転部材の軸方向の両側に設けられた摺動部材と、前記回転部材の軸方向の両側の前記摺動部材を軸方向の両外側から挟むように設けられ、軸方向に移動可能に設けられ、且つ回転規制された固定部材と、前記固定部材を前記回転部材の軸方向に付勢する付勢部と、を有する。【選択図】 図６
