Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a standby time for switching image formation processing is reduced.SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a writing timing in a sub-scanning direction is set so that a color shift correction image for color shift correction is formed in a position corresponding to the detection result of an image detection sensor and each laser scanner is controlled (S1008), when an image is formed on a paper sheet, the writing timing in the sub-scanning direction is set according to the detection result of the image detection sensor and the skew amount of the paper sheet and each laser scanner is controlled (S1002), and when a density detection toner image for density correction is formed, the writing timing in the sub-scanning direction is set so as to perform formation in the position moved from the position when the image is formed on the paper sheet in a pixel unit and each laser scanner is controlled (S1003). 【課題】画像形成処理の切替時の待機時間を少なくした画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、色ずれ補正のための色ずれ補正画像を、画像検知センサの検知結果に応じた位置に形成するように、副走査方向の書き出しタイミングを設定して各レーザスキャナを制御する(S1008)。用紙に画像を形成する場合には、画像検知センサの検知結果及び用紙の斜行量に応じて副走査方向の書き出しタイミングを設定して、各レーザスキャナを制御する(S1002)。濃度補正のための濃度検知用トナー像を形成する場合には、用紙に画像を形成する場合の位置から画素単位で移動した位置に形成するように副走査方向の書き出しタイミングを設定して、各レーザスキャナを制御する(S1003)。【選択図】図15
