Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for the side wall which is excellent in low heat generation properties and ozone resistance when molded to a tire and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for side wall comprises a diene rubber and carbon black, and the diene rubber contains a modified polymer obtained by reacting the double bonds of a conjugated diene polymer with a nitrone compound and natural rubber. The content of the modified polymer in the diene rubber is 8-65 mass%; the nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of carbon black is 20-60 [×10m/kg]; and the content of carbon black is 30-67 pts. mass to 100 pts. mass of the diene rubber. 【課題】タイヤにしたときに低発熱性および耐オゾン性に優れるサイドウォール用ゴム組成物、および、上記ゴム組成物を使用した空気入りタイヤを提供する。【解決手段】ジエン系ゴムと、カーボンブラックとを含有し、上記ジエン系ゴムが、共役ジエン重合体の二重結合に対してニトロン化合物を反応させることで得られる変性ポリマーと、天然ゴムとを含み、上記ジエン系ゴム中の上記変性ポリマーの含有量が8〜65質量%であり、上記カーボンブラックの窒素吸着比表面積が、20〜60[?103m2/kg]であり、上記カーボンブラックの含有量が、上記ジエン系ゴム100質量部に対して、30〜67質量部である、サイドウォール用ゴム組成物。【選択図】なし
